I joined Coventry Urban Eden (CUE) to harness the power of collective advocacy after my efforts to transform a raised bed outside Coventry Central Hall into a community garden were unsuccessful. One of my proudest moments was securing council approval for the project, marking a shift in power towards the community.
I also take pride in our ECO church series involvement and securing our first grant. As a volunteer, I contribute my project management skills to ensure we run sustainable projects. It’s an honor to support such a meaningful cause. Outside of CUE, I enjoy writing about liberation movements and community empowerment.
I got involved in CUE as a natural extension of being a city host and being involved in the community. I am old enough to remember Broadgate as a beautiful green space surrounded by flowers and the precinct dotted with shady trees and would love to see the city centre becoming green again .
I belong to a community choir, do deliveries for a local food hub and am active in the local National Trust group.I belong to a long standing book group and enjoy a very busy social life.
My dream is for humans to live harmoniously with nature. As the world is becoming more and more urbanised, I wish to create more beautiful, natural and perhaps wilder spaces in the city, so that we can connect with nature's wonder in our everyday life, which is the main motivation for me to join CUE.
I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, exploring new places and simply observing nature.
I love the outdoors and observing nature, especially our tiniest creatures! I will never forget finding the praying mantises in our garden back home in Australia - what gloriously mysterious creatures they are. I am greatly concerned about the decline in invertebrates (as well as the loss in biodiversity as a whole) and the lack of green spaces available in cities and urban areas. When the opportunity arose to be involved in a new green group in Coventry, I was excited to be a part of it and help build a green community. What I love about being involved in CUE is meeting others who share our passion for improving our local community and the environment.
